brigantine

A few days late... but this weekend Dan & I went to Brigantine, NJ for some sun and fun.. or rather, cold and windy fun. It was mostly just us playing with the dogs and freezing our butts off but good nonetheless.

happy valentine's day!

There is a guy who is pretty important to me.

1. He loves going to Disney just as much as I do (maybe more)
2. He takes care of me when I am sick (and I am not fun when I am sick)

3. He helped me so much with planning our wedding (he even was the one who found our photographer & convinced me to use the Philly trolley.. though this picture was not taken by our photographer but rather our MOH)

4. He was my best friend first

5. He is my biggest fan and comes to pretty much all my races & runs

6. He listens to me cry and carry-on about things going wrong in my life and does everything he can to make it better

7. He loves to go to the beach too

8. He loves me and accepts me - he loved me when I was overweight and loves me now

9. He gives the best hugs and his laugh makes me laugh... and he's pretty cute too

10. He goes along with my crazy ideas and suggestions but helps me see the practical side of things

I love you, Dan... to our 7th Valentine's day together and our 7th month of marriage.

Happy Valentine's Day!

is it Valentine's Day yet?

Maybe I'm weird or maybe I'm just a sap but I really look forward to Valentine's Day. I just love it. I love eating our favorite foods together, buying each other presents, and eating chocolate (that's just me though - its common knowledge that Dan isn't a fan).

This week feels like it is dragging on forever yet V-Day is only 2 days away. And I can't wait to spend time with Dan for our first V-Day as husband & wife. It keeps making me think of our very first Valentine's Day together - we weren't even together yet officially but he still went out of his way to send me some V-Day love in the form of a red cuddly build-a-bear (which I still have by the way). I think that day made me realize Dan was going to be part of my life for a very long time.

Expect a long, sappy, mushy post about all the reasons I love this guy. And lots more pictures.

...

I promise as V-Day dies down and spring approaches I will post more... house-wifey things. Or rather fake house-wifey things. Life has this funny way of flying by and I get so distracted. But I promise, good things are coming to this blog.   :)

cupid's chase 5K

A couple weeks ago Dan asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day and I replied, "chocolate... lots of chocolate. and Peter Pan on DVD" (we all know I'm a freak for disney movies). But then I was REALLY thinking about it and told him I changed my mind and wanted him to run in a 5K with me...

and he agreed!

So with some fast thinking on my part, I found one in Philly near the art museum that seemed fun and Valentine's Day related - the Cupid' Chase 5K.

Maybe I thought too fast though because it was COLD. Windy. Freezing. and hard to find parking. But we managed.

We did not run the whole thing but I am very proud of Dan for finishing and participating with me. Definitely one of the best Valentine's day gifts he's given me.

As for the actual day, we are going to go out to dinner after work and spend time together. Usually after work Dan is working on wrestling things or doing homework and I am at the gym but we're going to put each other first and just relax and enjoy dinner.

...

It's Monday morning... Mondays aren't fun but I plan to have a good day anyway.

snowstorm! or not

So this hyped up snowstorm was basically a dud. Yes it snowed and yes the roads got a little wet but we really did not get that much. Once we got out of our apartment complex this morning, the roads were perfectly fine.

But I did manage to grab some photos late last night so we did experience a little bit of Nemo.

It's Saturday. Dan & I ran in a 5K together this morning (I'll post about that next!) and he is off to wrestling for the day/night and I plan on doing absolutely nothing except snuggling with my dog and only getting up to change the movie in the dvd player.

Happy weekend!

happy february!

February is one of my favorite months.

Although the weather isn't much different, it feels so different from January to me. January is bleak and dreary with the post-holiday clean-up. January feels dim and slow. February feels new and exciting.

I mean, it's the month of love.

So many people complain about Valentine's Day... it's commercialized, it's a Hallmark holiday, it is not enjoyable if you don't have a significant other.

I disagree.

Yes, Valentine's day is nice if you have that special someone to hold hands with and give heart shaped boxes of chocolate to. But you can also think of it as a way to reflect on your love for other people in your life. Your family, your friends, yourself.

Even in my single days, I never experienced a bad Valentine's day. Someone always reminded me that they loved me. I plan on doing that myself this month.

I'm all about the self-love these days. After years of hating my body and hating the person I had become, I found the strength to turn it around and change myself. I found what bothered me and I changed it. I morphed my physical self into something I can be proud of. I let my work life get out of control for a while and helped myself find a position that makes me comfortable and happy. I no longer surround myself with people who bring negativity into my life but rather ones who accept me for who I am and don't pressure me to be different.

This month, if you're single - don't mope with a pint of Ben & Jerry's and instead enjoy that pint. Share it with a friend. Take yourself out to and treat yourself to something special. Do something good for yourself and remind yourself why you are so special.

February might only have 28 days but they can be 28 awesome days. And just think, we're one month closer to warm weather and sunshine.

...

As for us, we'll be having dinner with some other couple friends, running in a 5K together (though I'm looking forward to this more than Dan), and a special night alone on Valentine's Day with just the two of us. This past week flew by and I'm excited for the weekend to regroup. I'm running in another 5K this Sunday (I'm addicted!) and plan on spending the rest of the weekend in sweats, catching up on tv shows and reading. Of course, the super bowl is Sunday night but aside from checking to see if I'm winning money in the pool my family has, I won't be paying too close attention.

February, you're looking pretty good already.
